This week we celebrated our new color of the week, RED – since last week was all pink, it seems like a logical progression. Actually, it was Valentine’s day, so red hearts were everywhere.
Bean and Smidge attended a lovely lunch at a friend’s this week. Delicious food and lots of red hearts and other pretty decorations were everywhere. And Smidge said there wasn’t a dust mote in sight. *sigh* We could re-build the Taj Mahal with our vast collection. But Bean’s philosophy is to have fun and be creative, and somehow she doesn’t see cleaning as a creative activity. I have pointed out (naturally it was me because I’m the tidy one) that if she did a bit of cleaning, she would be better able to locate her supplies beneath the layers with which to have fun and be creative. Some large dust mote just seconded my thought as it wandered off in search of friends. *shudder*
But our big news of the day is that we will be having company in just over a week, yet another good reason to get creative with a duster and a mop. It’s Hitty Club on the 27th. That’s when the Club members gather to play with Hitty dolls and make something for them. Bean is in charge of the activity because there were no other volunteers. She said it would be an easy craft. Lucky thing it’s easy since she also fixes lunch for everyone. So she has a week to find the cleaning products and get the job done. Look out, people: whirling dervish at work. But don’t worry – her frenetic activity won’t last long. She’ll be back to creative play in no time.
But Hitty Club is not the company to which I refer. The company is actually a small friend of Smidge’s who is coming for an extended visit. She will arrive in about a week and stay until June! That’s practically like having a new family member, and she’s staying even longer than Auntie Glenda does every year. I’m not permitted to release the friend’s name just yet, but she and Smidge have known one another for some time, and even took a weekend trip together once. Smidge is pretty excited, and if Bean isn’t anxious to pull out the bucket and broom, Smidge can barely wait to clear a parking spot and get the Glamper moved down from its Winter Retreat location to accommodate her and her guest.
It’s great to have a friend.
Every day is Valentine’s Day when you’re with a friend.
